Hand Made Gluten Free Pasta

Holy crap, I can’t believe that worked.

I’ve never made pasta before, but saw someone do it on some cooking show, and it looked easy. I thought, why not?

Well, I don’t have a pasta maker/roller/presser thingy, that’s why not.

But I did have a rolling pin and some time to kill this morning, so here’s what I did.

3 1/4 cups all purpose gluten free flour into the food processor

4 eggs on top of the flour, then a pinch of salt and let it go on high for about a minute.

Transfer to countertop mixer and using the dough hook, pour in some water until it comes together. Knead it for about 10 minutes, either on the table or in the mixer, until it looks something like this.

I divided this mess into two parts and rolled it out, flipped it over itself, rolled it out again, flipped it over…kind of like you would a pie crust or biscuit.

It’s pretty thin, but not thin enough. I was going for paper thin, but never did quite achieve it.

Then I cut the edges off to make it into a rectangle.

Then roll her up like a jelly roll, and cut it like you were cutting sweet roll dough.

Everything reminds me of baking sweet rolls.

You’ve got pasta!!

Drop these babies into boiling water with some salt for about 3-4 minutes, strain and rinse, and that’s it!

It took me longer to clean my kitchen afterward than it did to make this pasta. Super easy, and a great upper body workout. 🙂

  1. I have always wanted to try making pasta, but my mom and brother are gluten free so I did not think it was possible! Definitely will look into trying this!
